3 Places to Watch Outdoor Movies in Chicago This Summer

It’s time to pack some Garrett’s Popcorn and lay out the lawn blanket because Chicago’s outdoor movies are back! Whether you are into recent hits, classics, or family favorites, free screenings will be playing all summer at Millennium Park, Navy Pier, and Wrigley Field’s Gallagher Way. Next to happy hour on the river walk, this is one of my favorite Windy City summer pastimes. Here are the schedules for my top three outdoor movie spots in Chicago.

1. Movie Night at Gallagher Way

Gallagher Way, the green space located on the doorstep of Wrigley Field, has free outdoor screenings on Wednesday evenings at 7:30PM from May 15 to September 25. Gates open at 6PM, leaving you plenty of time to claim a good spot on the lawn. Big Star, West Town Bakery, Smoke Daddy, and Jeni’s Ice Creams are all a stone’s throw from Gallagher Way, so the snack options are top-notch. Jurassic Park, Clueless, The Breakfast Club, Field of Dreams, Rudy, and High Fidelity are a few of the films you can watch at Gallagher Way this summer. Find the complete lineup here.

2. Millennium Park Summer Film Series

Pack your own snacks and load up the lawn chairs because Millennium Park’s Summer Film Series returns on June 4 with a free screening of Black Panther. You can catch movies in Millennium Park’s amphitheater on Tuesday evenings at 6:30PM until August 20. Love, Simon, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Fences, The Music Man, The Muppet Movie, and 10 Things I Hate About You are a few of the titles you will find on the big screen. August 5 even brings an additional daytime showing of Inside Out at 11:30AM. Read the full schedule here.

3. Navy Pier Water Flicks Summer Film Series

It’s the season of superheroes at Navy Pier’s Water Flicks summer film series. From June 24 through August 12 at 6:30PM, you can enjoy Avengers: Infinity War, Wonder Woman, The Incredibles 2, and Aquaman on the big screen at Navy Pier. Pack some snacks and your favorite outdoor blanket because this is the best place to catch a Monday evening film on the shore of Lake Michigan. Click here for the complete schedule.
