Today was my second weigh-in of 2020 and I am down 2 pounds. 🥳🎉 I’m happy for any type of loss considering it was an unpredictable week. I typically wouldn’t go into detail, but for those of you following my WW Connect account already know — I left work early everyday this week, spent a lot of time at the hospital, followed by spending a lot of time at the hospice center. I didn’t go to the gym every single day like I had planned, but I made sure to go every other day at least. I moved into week 2 of C25K; I met with a personal trainer and created goals in order to achieve my ultimate goal of running the 2022 Chicago Marathon; and I tracked everything. I also ate really well, with the exception of the day I ate two donuts for dinner while at the hospice center. So all in all, it was a decent week for health. I have no idea what this week will bring, but something I am happy about is that this entire weight loss experience is in my control. I brought my own meals and water everywhere I went, and I’m just going to keep doing the same thing. I’m also starting week 3 of C25K this week. Onward and upward. ✌️

Guess who’s traveling here from Arizona today? Cousin Sophia! The 4-year-old wonder girl who hiked the Grand Canyon and beats adults at tic-tac-toe. Fingers crossed she’s still rocking her signature little pink glasses. 👧🏻
I am obsessed with the gift @drbennett gave me when she asked me to officiate her wedding! Remember when Joey officiated Monica and Chandler’s wedding? Yeah, I’m feeling all of the vibes. 🎉👰🏼🤵
Today was my first weigh-in of 2020 and I am down 7.2 pounds for week 1! Week one typically yields the largest weigh-in result, and this feels like a great way to get the ball rolling. This week I tracked everything. I made a valiant effort to stay within my smart points (healthy zone). I joined a gym that sits 6 minutes from where I live, and I started the C25K running app. I drank water. The number one goal I focused on was making healthier food choices. For week two, I’m going to keep tracking. Drink more water. Keep on with C25K and move into week 2 of the program. Continue making healthy food choices. And hopefully I’ll repeat similar weigh-in day results as today! Anyway, into week two!
This photo is one of the last 5K races I ran — roughly two years ago. When I think of the goals that I have for 2020, I visualize them as a tier system. Tier two holds my plans like becoming debt free and using less plastic. Living purposefully resides in tier three and that includes putting passion into work, investing time into a hobby, giving my time to service projects, fostering relationships that are meaningful, and eating purposefully. In tier one, at the very top of my goals, is health. For a long time, I was unhappy with my health because I was too fat. It was mainly a vanity issue, but it also included reasons like how my size inhibited me from participating in activities I so wished to be a part of, or stopped me from doing simply things like buckling the seatbelt on an airplane. One of my goals for 2020 is to get as close to my goal weight (179 pounds) as possible. I’ve been wanting to do this for so long, that I’m sure a lot of people don’t even believe it’s possible for me to do. I know this because I’ve had people doubt me for different things my entire life, and I know it’s no different for this. Health stopped becoming a vanity issue last year, and it became a comfort dilemma. I’m only 29 years old, but I feel like I’m 90. I huff and puff from just walking short distances. I don’t run anymore. Everything hurts all of the time, even when I’m sitting down. My arms and legs fall asleep all of the time, even in the middle of doing tasks, because my circulation is so terrible. Putting on socks and shoes is a struggle, and I get exhausted from holding my niece and she’s only 5 months old. I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t even like to do anything because everything always hurts, and even the simplest things are a physically exhausting. This year, I’m going to aim the arrow elsewhere — toward goal weight, feeling better, and living better. I’m tired of feeling sick all of the time, when I’m not even sick! I feel miserable because of my choices. So if you follow me on the WW Connect app, all of my posts will be on there. Pretty much, this is the intro to something new. One of my favorite hobbies is photography. For the past three years, I have worked with companies such as Target, Hilton Hotels, Radisson Hotels, National Parks, and various other groups to use my photos as part of their marketing strategies. It’s only freelance for now, but I never owned a camera that entire time. All of my photos were taken with an iPhone and edited through Adobe programs. I’m really excited to have a legitimate camera now. I have been wanting one for a long time, but it’s an expensive investment and it takes quite a bit of research and shopping around to find the best fit depending on the intended use. I can’t wait to see what my photos look like with this Nikon camera. I’m still getting the hang of it, but it’s so cute — the red color looks like Santa designed it himself. 🎅🏽📸
“It doesn’t feel like Christmas without snow” has always been my vibe. Living in the North, Christmas and snow go together like Thelma and Louise — they’re a squad package. It was 53° today, however. People in Chicago were wearing jackets and shorts like it was springtime — it feels great outside! I think I could get used to the feel of a southern Christmas, but with all of the northern personality. Happy Christmas Eve! 🎄
Happy First Day of Winter! It feels more like spring, but I’m sure snowflakes, icicles, and frigid temps will be back soon enough. Spending today running Christmas errands and finding the best lights. ❄️
