On May 10, 2020, I boarded a 16-hour flight from Chicago to South Korea in the middle of a pandemic. When I say it like that, it sounds crazy; but most of life’s great adventures fall somewhere on the crazy spectrum.
Saturday night walk in Seoul. Korea is decorated with beautiful lanterns for Buddha’s birthday this month. Not to sound cliché, but following a trail of glowing lanterns scores 10/10 on the magical scale. ☸️✨🌙
Yesterday was Children’s Day in Korea — a national holiday where children of the country are celebrated. There are special events held around the country, and some parents give their children gifts for Children’s Day. Some of the things my students were hoping for: a Harry Potter Lego set, Adidas gear, a trip to an amusement park, and Nikes. They’re so cool — I love these kids. 👧🏻🇰🇷♥️👦🏻

We’ve reached the tail end of cherry blossom season. King Cherry Blossoms + sunshine — springtime weekends in Korea. 🌞

Sunday surrounded by gorgeous hanbok and Korean history at Gyeongbokgung Palace. 🌞 Gyeongbok is the largest of the Five Grand Palaces and was the main royal palace of the Joseon dynasty. The palace served as the home of Kings of the Joseon dynasty, the Kings' households as well as for the government of Joseon. 🇰🇷
Coffee date with my favorite. 둥이 is so happy it’s Friday. 😉🎉☕️
Finally stumbled upon one of Thomas Dambo’s troll sculptures! He is a Danish artist and has been creating enormous sculptures from recycled materials for several years. The statues are placed in offbeat areas around the world to encourage people to get out and explore. ☺️🍃
